Southwark Park
Southwark Park was founded in 1869. There is a rose garden, a cafe, an art gallery and a playground with slides and swings. For sports lovers, football and cricket fields, turf for bowls and tennis courts were built. There is also a picturesque lake on which you can go boating and an athletics track. Among the monuments, attention is drawn primarily to the small covered stage from the nineteenth century.
The park was created according to the design of Alexander McKenzie and covers an area of about 250,000 m2. As in most London parks, there are mainly plane trees, but you can also see less popular species of trees. Opposite the entrance to the art gallery, there is a spreading walnut, a group of silvery clones and red oak. In turn, near the pond, where you can observe the floating ducks, there are three mud cypress trees.
