Newport Street Gallery
Newport Street Gallery is an art gallery founded by Damien Hirst. Six exhibition spaces, one of which is located in a room 11 m high, houses over 3,000 exhibits. They include works by Francis Bacon, Richard Prince and Pablo Picasso. Historic exhibits, anatomical models and stuffed animal specimens are part of the collection. The building also has a shop, restaurant and offices of the company belonging to the founder.
The gallery was opened in October 2015, but Hirst officially talked about plans to establish it three years earlier. In the building, where the institution is currently located, there was a workshop dealing with theaters for theaters. After opening the gallery in it, the building was renovated according to the design by Caruso St. John. The new project was praised for its "virtuosity" and in 2016 it was awarded the RIBA Stirling Prize.
