Lochleven Castle

Picturesque castle ruins situated on the island of Lake Leven. Built around 1300, the stronghold was the place where in 1567 Maria, the Queen of Scots, was imprisoned. The island can be reached by rented boats. In addition to the ruined prison tower, there is also a 16th-century residential tower.
