HAVERFORDWEST tourist attractions

+1 attraction

Haverfordwest is an intimate Welsh city in the beautiful coastal countryside of Pembrokeshire. Although the city itself is located inland, it is close from here to the beautiful, fragmented coast full of coves and rocky cliffs.

The city has a history dating back to Roman times and a nice historic center with two-story tenement houses, cobbled streets and several historic churches. The ruins of the medieval Haverfordwest Castle tower over the buildings, offering a nice view of the surrounding area. At the castle walls there is the building of the former court and prison, which today serve as the city museum.

Haverfordwest town center is full of historic housing. Many of them have colorful facades, and on their ground floors there are shops, restaurants and pubs. Among them you can find, among others, the medieval church of St. Mary and the neo-Gothic, small Catholic church of St. David and St. Patrick's Day.

Visitors to the city are also amazed by its surroundings. The beautiful framgnet of the local coastline, protected by the Coastal Pembrokeshire National Park, is the Haverfordwest's greatest attraction. The cliffs can be walked on numerous footpaths, while the coastal waters are perfect for sailing or windsurfing.
