The Skövde Cultural Center (Skövde Kulturhus) was the first institution of this type to be established in Sweden. A city library and an art gallery were opened here for residents, as well as a cinema and a cafe, and even a city theater. An art education workshop was made available to local artists.
The center was established in 1964, it was designed by Hans-Erland Heineman. In the building there are rooms for conducting activities of various types, incl. dance room. There are also conference and theater rooms with an audience of 500 people.
The inhabitants of Skövde can take part in many interesting events, the center organizes concerts, cabaret performances, and theater plays. The program included workshops, lectures and lectures. It is one of the most important cultural institutions in the commune.
