Ferdinand III was king of Castile in the thirteenth century. He died in Seville in 1252 and the funeral took place in the local Cathedral. To this day, in the Royal Chapel, there is an urn with the ashes of the ruler. The city also honored the king with many works of art, including the monument to the monarch at Plaza Nueva.
