As Catedrais beach is called in Spanish Playa de las Catedrales or Beach of the Cathedrals. It is also known as Praia de Aguas Santas - Holy Water Beach. This place was recognized as a natural monument by the Ministry of the Environment Junta de Galicia. The characteristic features of this beach are fancy arches and caves only available at low tide. Some rocks are over thirty meters high. Some of them resemble columns or buttresses of the cathedral, hence the original name.
Cathedrals Beach is located in the northern part of the Galician coast. In addition to unusual rock formations, tourists are also attracted by fine, delicate sand. Also interesting are deep caves and caves hollowed out in the rocks due to water-wind erosion. However, the unique "architecture" of this place can only be enjoyed at low tide. During high tides, descent to the sand is usually not possible (and can even be dangerous).
