The Arch of Santa María is one of the twelve gates that were located in the city of Burgos during the medieval period. It was built in the 14th-15th centuries, and then rebuilt in the 16th century by Emperor Charles V. It now houses an exhibition space, where you can see an exhibition of historic pharmaceutical equipment and temporary exhibitions of works of art.
There are niches on the facade of the arch, with sculptures of figures that went down in the history of Burgos. They include, among others founder of the city of Diego Rodríguez Porcelos, El Cid and Charles V.
