The El Ninot market is located in the Eixample district. In market halls renovated in 2014-2015 you can find fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy products, meat and fish. There are also tapas bars and small wine bars in the market building.
Initially, the market was located under the open sky. It began to form at the end of the 19th century. It owes its name to the tavern El Ninot that is the Doll. It came from the daughter of the owner, who found a wooden toy in the sea and liked her so much that he hung it above the entrance to the inn.
After the reconstruction, the interior of the market halls gained a modern look. However, it is still a traditional market where you can buy the highest quality food products, mostly straight from the producers. Outside the halls there is a street market with clothing.
