Miralles Gate

Local name: Portal Miralles

The Miralles portal is a decorative gate with a fence created by Antoni Gaudi. The object was entered in the register of Spanish monuments. Its characteristic feature are elements made of thick metal mesh, reminiscent of a fishing net.

Above the entrance there is a wide roof, above which a replica of a wrought iron cross was placed (the original is in Casa-Museo Gaudí).

The Miralles portal was created at the beginning of the 20th century at the request of the Catalan industrialist Hermenegild Miralles and Anglès, with whom Gaudi cooperated more than once. Miralles was involved in the production of chairs and paneling, the artist used his services to decorate the Torino Bar.

Gaudí was also asked by Miralles to create a house project, but he did not undertake this task, it was carried out by his student Sugrañes Domènec and Gras.
