Orneta Park is located on the northern outskirts of Barcelona, in the Collserola range. It is an area covered with Mediterranean groves. Numerous walking paths lead through it. The park also has its own miniature train with a real station. Its route is approximately 650 meters long.
The park was founded in 1978. It is situated on the grounds of the two former estates of Can Bonavia and the Orneta Castle. It takes its name from the latter. Among the lush vegetation, you can find some fragments of the walls that have remained of the castle.
The park offers nice panoramic views of Barcelona. It is a popular place for walks and short trips on public holidays. There is a possibility of pony riding there. Since 1981, there is also a mini-railway route. It is operated by 11 steam locomotives that cover a distance of more than half a kilometer.
