CaixaForum is a center of contemporary art and culture on the Montjuïc hill in Barcelona. It accumulates about 800 works of artists from around the world, you can admire here, among others works of Sigmar Polke, Donald Judd or Thomas Struth. The building itself is a tourist attraction - it is the former textile factory "Casaramona" erected in the Art Nouveau style.
The factory design was created by the Spanish architect and politician Josep Puig and Cadafalcha. After the building was transformed into a gallery headquarters, the new entrance was designed by Japanese architect Arate Isizaki.
The Casaramon Factory was founded in 1911. The plant operated here for a very short time, only 7 years. In the 1920s it was used as a warehouse, after the civil war it was turned into a police stable. The cultural center has been established here since 2002.
