Zoo Spisska Nova Ves

The zoo in Spišská Nová Ves is located in Madaras Park. About 300 animals live here in the area of 8 hectares. In addition to representatives of the native fauna of Slovakia, you can also see leopards, ussurian tigers and baboons. The park also has an arboretum and an Aquaterra pavilion with amphibians, reptiles and fish.
The zoo in Spišská Nová Ves was founded in 1989. It is the smallest Slovak zoo, but at the same time it is considered very picturesque. It owes its location in the park with a small lake and stream. The wooded area is also a dendrological park, where you can admire a variety of, including rare species of trees and shrubs.
The zoo in Spišská Nová Ves is mainly involved in presenting species characteristic of Slovakia. However, there are also animals from abroad and other climate zones. The most valuable of them are species listed in the Red Book of endangered animals.
