The bronze sculpture of John Paul II is a symbol of the will to agree between the Catholic and Protestant churches, which the Pope spoke about during his visit to Prešov on July 2, 1995. This is emphasized by the location of the sculpture between the Roman Catholic cathedral of St. Nicholas and the evangelical church of St. Trinity. The author of the 2.5-meter figure weighing 500 kg is Peter Beňo.
