Slovak Gas Museum
Local name: Slovenské plynárenské múzeum
The Gas Museum in Bratislava is housed in a former municipal gasworks. It is run by the company dealing in trade in this raw material, SPP. The exhibitions show what work in a former gasworks looked like, as well as the methods of obtaining gas, and the equipment used for its transmission. There are also models of gas installations and buildings used in production and transport.
The Museum has three exhibitions - History, Laboratory and Contemporary. The first of them presents the appearance of the office from the interwar period. It is devoted to the work of ordinary officials overseeing the operation of the gasworks and dealing with clients. The Laboratory exhibition is, in turn, an opportunity to look at how to extract and process gas. There are photos, videos and documents showing the operation of the gasworks "from the inside."
The latest part of the exhibition is an exhibition of mock-ups presenting modern ways to extract, transport and store gas. It is enriched with presentations and documentary films.
