Radio and Television of Slovakia
Local name: Rozhlas a televízia Slovenska
The building of the Slovak Radio (Slovensky Rozhlas) is one of the most unusual buildings of Bratislava. Commissioned in 1984, the building looks like an upside down pyramid. Inside there are recording studios and office rooms. There is also a large concert hall adapted for recording.
Slovensky Rozhlas is sometimes called the "building of the century". This name stuck to it not only because of the original shape, but also a very long period of construction. The authors of the project, S. Svetko, S. Durkovic and B. Kissling designed a building expanding upwards, whose floors are fastened with metal ropes. The building is still considered one of the best examples of modernism in Slovakia. The local concert hall has the largest organs in the country.
