Museum of Jewish Culture
Local name: Múzeum židovskej kultúry
The Museum of Jewish Culture in Bratislava is located in the building of the Zsigrayova Curia. It is one of the two surviving buildings on the former Jewish Street. His collections include ceremonial items such as the Torah scrolls, candlesticks, dishes, Torah reading pointers and numerous antique book editions, including the writings of the Bratislava rabbi Chatam Sofera.
The museum has been operating since 1993. In the 18th century interiors, preserved souvenirs of Slovak Jews are presented. There are wardrobes for the Torah and parochets obscuring them, letters from learned rabbis and clothing items. Two preserved clay funeral pitchers belonging to the Brotherhood of Chevra Kadish are very valuable. On their walls are engraved scenes from the life of the brotherhood.
