Bunker BS-8
Local name: Bunker BS-8
The BS-8 "Hrbitov" bunker is located in the suburbs of Bratislava, close to the Austrian border. He belonged to the Czechoslovak defense line built before World War II. There are several other shelters in the area. A small museum operates in BS-8, where you can see military items from World War II.
In the 1930s, Czechoslovakia was building a defense line to be used in the event of a German attack. Currently, a large part of these fortifications have survived in the suburbs of Bratislava. The largest of them is Bunker BS-8 "Hrbitov". Currently, it is looked after by the local association of fortification enthusiasts. In the bunker you can use a guide tour.
Next to the shelter is a large war cemetery from World War II. A fragment of the "iron curtain" was also reconstructed here. The fences and fortifications that were on the Czechoslovakian-Austrian border until 1989 are shown after World War II.
