The baroque calvary was built in the middle of 18th century on the initiative of the Jesuit František Perger (1700-1771). Currently, it is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. Unlike typical calvars, the complex in Banská Štiavnica consists of not 14, but 17 stations, among which there are three churches and a prison.
