The Steam Locomotive Museum in Sibiu was founded in 1994. It houses a collection of steam locomotives and locomotives built between 1885 and 1959 in Romania, Germany and the United States. Currently, the collection includes 23 standard-gauge locomotives, 10 narrow-gauge locomotives, 3 snow plows and 2 steam cranes.
The museum is located opposite the main railway station in Sibiu, on the site of the former engine house and turntable. Part of the depot is still in use. During holidays and selected celebrations, several of the locomotives, permanently in the museum's collection, are used for special tourist courses.
