Praia do Molhe

Local name: Praia do Molhe

Praia do Molhe is one of the most famous beaches in Porto located along the Foz district. As on most of the surrounding beaches, you can find a mixture of coarse sand and rocks. The most characteristic feature of Molhe is the stone pier that goes out of the beach. This pier is to protect the shore from high waves, it is also often used by fishermen.

Praia do Molhe is about 168 meters of sand. It has been one of the most important resorts on the Porto coast since the beginning of the 20th century. Next to it are tasteful cafes and bars, as well as Pérgola da Foz - a cement balustrade and a promenade built around 1930, from which you can enjoy wonderful sea views.

Pérgola da Foz was built as part of a project to embellish this part of the city and the beach itself. Due to its interesting architecture and views from it, this is a common theme for postcards and photos.
