The Pharmacy Museum in Porto is actually a branch of the museum of the same name located in Lisbon. The facility boasts a collection covering thousands of years of health and disease history as well as pain relief. You can see objects from such distant civilizations and cultures, such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Inca and Aztec America, Africa, Tibet and China.
The first Pharmacy Museum was opened in June 1996 in Lisbon. His branch in Porto has been operating since 2010. Unlike its Lisbon original, which presents the development of Portuguese history and pharmaceutical technology, from the late 15th century to modern times, the museum in Porto focuses mainly on world history. The pharmaceutical heritage of Portugal itself is represented here by the excellent reconstruction of the pharmacy that was once located in Rua Sá da Bandeira.
