Capela das Verdades is a small chapel hidden behind the Episcopate building at Rua de D. Hugo. This place is little known and rarely visited by tourists. The building itself is very simple and neglected. However, it is worth going inside to see the 17th century altar with four small paintings depicting Saint. Dominica, Saint. Joseph, Saint. John the Evangelist and the Mother of God. The niche also contains the image of Our Lady of Truth, hewn from limestone at the end of the fourteenth century.
The inconspicuous chapel has a very rich history. It was built in the fourteenth century. After years of splendor, it began to deteriorate, so in the 17th century it was rebuilt. During the siege of Porto (1832-1834) the chapel was destroyed by artillery, but immediately after the war it was restored thanks to the funds of Angela D. Jacome Lake Moscoso. Only modern ruins have survived to modern times, very sporadically used for religious purposes.
