Praia de Gondarém beach is a beautiful sandy beach that is often visited by tourists in Porto. She was awarded the Blue Flag distinction. The sand is coarse and sometimes disappears completely at high tides. A characteristic feature of this place is the large biodiversity visible among algae, snails and other small organisms that can be found in puddles formed by waves.
Praia de Gondarém is 115 meters long. The rocks forming the string about 50 meters from the shore affect the formation of transverse currents, but on the other hand they also act as a breakwater, protecting the beach from larger waves. The name of the beach consists of two terms. " Gon " means "battle", while " rimis" means "rest". So you can translate it as "rest from battle" or "rest from battle".
