Porches is a small town on the Algarve Coast that is now developing primarily as a holiday resort. The coast is full of small beaches, often hidden in bays, for which there are numerous hotels.
Until the tourist boom, Porches was a fishing village. Today, some traditional buildings have survived in the center, but for tourists mainly hotels close to the coast, in the vicinity of picturesque beaches.
The possibility of relaxing by the sea is Porches's greatest attraction. The beaches here are sandy and lie at the foot of the cliffs. The most famous are Albandeira Beach, Nova Beach, Beijinhos Beach, Cova Redonda Beach and Estaquinha Beach. Some of them can only be reached from the sea. The coast is also beautiful, with rugged cliffs and remarkable rock formations such as the Arch of Albandeira.
