Museum of São Roque

The Saint Roch Museum is located at the same church. It is a museum of sacred art, which collected, inter alia, liturgical items, vestments, books and furnishings of churches destroyed during the great earthquake in 1755.

The museum occupies several rooms at the church of Saint Roch. Has in its collection the largest collection of Italian sacred art of the seventeenth century in Portugal. You can see religious paintings and sculptures, altar decorations, liturgical books, vessels, monstrances and vestments used during services. Many of them are embroidered with gold and silver threads and decorated with precious stones.
