Principe Real Park in Lisbon is located in the Principe Real. The biggest attraction of the park is the centuries old so-called tree of life with an amazing appearance and a crown with a diameter of 23 meters. The park covers an area of 1.1 hectares. You can see in it a lot of trees of several centuries, in particular Portuguese cypresses and various green plants. There is a monument commemorating the death of Antero de Quental by the sculptor Lago Henriques. There are numerous cafes and dining options around the garden. Every Saturday, there is a healthy food market in the park.
The garden was erected on the site of an abandoned landfill in 1830. It was designed according to the romantic trend. In the 1850s it was known as Largo de D. Pedro V, and then it was called Plaza Río de Janeiro. The name currently used refers to the memory of the firstborn son of Queen Maria II.
