Cordoaria Nacional is a former state-owned ship equipment factory that now functions as a temporary exhibition center. Located in the Belem district, on the banks of the Tagus. It is an 18th century industrial building.
The factory has been operating since 1775. Ship ropes, candles and flags as well as other ship equipment were produced here. After the plant closed, the buildings stood abandoned. It wasn't until the beginning of the 21st century that it was decided to renovate it and allocate it for cultural purposes.
The building is about 400 meters long. The factory hall is low, one-story, covered with a gable roof, has small windows. Inside you can see the roof structure. The administrative part is a simple, multi-story building with a triangular gable with the image of an anchor and two carved vases at the corners of the roof. The building currently belongs to the city. Various exhibitions, both artistic and educational, take place here.
