The church of Saint John the Baptist in Lumiar, northern Lisbon, is a small temple with an elongated nave and a quadrangular chancel. The church, which has been rebuilt many times, has a three-nave interior and a very simple facade with a square tower next to it.
The church was built in the 13th century. During its history it has been rebuilt several times. In the lower part of the building you can still see the old Gothic walls. However, the whole building already has distinct features of the Baroque and Neoclassical style.
The elongated body of the church hides a very simple interior divided into naves with the help of classicizing columns. The walls are painted white. Only in the presbytery gilding was used, which surround the main altar with the Throne of the Blessed Sacrament and side altars.
