The Campo Paqueno Museum is housed in the bullfight arena of the same name. It collects items related to bullfighting, corrida and its history and Portuguese traditions. You can see paintings, photos, elements of the bullfighters' outfits and equipment, and the history of the arena itself.
Campo Paqueno was built at the end of the 19th century in the then fashionable Moorish style. It is characterized by stonework details referring to the decorations from North Africa and towers finished with domes. Currently, the arena is used both for bullfights, which take place several times a season, and for the organization of cultural events. A shopping center operates in the basement.
The Campo Paqueno Museum was opened for the first time in 1937. Unfortunately, his entire collection was stolen almost immediately after opening and the police failed to recover it. It took over 70 years to restore the harvest. The museum has been open since 2015. You can see items related to the history of corrida in Portugal. There are items used by bullfighters, the profiles of the most important of them are presented. The collection is supplemented with photos from fights and paintings.
