A cable car connecting the center of Funchal with Monte. It was built at the beginning of the 21st century and replaced the ground railway that had been here before. It is a modern gondola, in which carriages can accommodate 7 people. It covers an over 3 km stretch with a level difference of 560 m in about 15 minutes. The summit offers a great view of the city.
