The tower, formerly serving as the Town Hall Tower, is a symbol of Żnin, an important remnant of its Gothic architecture. Its renovated interiors house a branch of the Pałuki Region Museum. You can see an interesting armory, the seat of the City Bench, a treasury and a historic clock mechanism.
In front of the tower, there is a reconstructed fogle - a medieval black powder cannon, one of the first used in Poland. During the archaeological works carried out in 2010 in the Market Square in Żnin, four such cannons were discovered. There was also a municipal prison in the basement of the tower.
The tower was built around 1445. The former town hall was destroyed during the Polish-Swedish wars in 1656. Only the tower has survived to our times. In the 18th century, a plaque clock with the image of St. Wacław and the coat of arms of Żnin.
