Babia Góra National Park is located in malopolskie province and it stretches out to the border with Slovakia. It was created for protection of the wildlife of Babia Góra. Today it covers the area of around 3400 hectares, from which more than 800 consists of buffer zone. Across the park there are many tourist routes with varying degrees of difficulty with a total length 52 km.
There are 105 species of birds, many unique species of mammals – wolfs, deers, bears and lynxes, as well as unique species of insects. What's most interesting though is the vegetation there. There are more than 650 species of vascular plants, 70 species of alpine plants, 54 species protected by plant protection and many more. In 1977 Babia Gora – a part of the park – has received a status of Biosphere reserve and has been entered into the UNESCO-MAB programme “Man and biosphere”. From the last weekend of March until the 30th of November each year one has to pay for visiting the reserve.Less
