The Władysław Hasior Gallery is a branch of the Tatra Museum in Zakopane. It is an original gallery where around 150 works of a well-known sculptor associated with Podhale were collected. Works made of metal, waste, and plastics have witty, often ironic titles that show the unconventional approach to life that Hasior represented.
In Poland, Władysław Hasior is known primarily as the creator of the famous "Organs" on the Snozka pass near Nowy Targ. Meanwhile, his works are exhibited in many contemporary art galleries in Europe (including Helsinki, Paris, Milan, and Rome). He had his own gallery in Zakopane with which he was associated for most of his artistic life.
Hasior's works are quite difficult to read. Built of metal, bent in unnatural, symbolic contextures show a huge imagination and a specific approach to form. The gallery tries to bring closer to the visitors works of this often misunderstood artist.
