The tombstone sculpture in Wschowa consists of an old town cemetery, an old and new evangelical cemetery and a Catholic cemetery from the beginning of the 19th century. Old tombstones and epitaphs have been repaired here, which can be traced back to the transformations of grave sculptures over time.
Among the four cemeteries that are part of the lapidary and which are under the care of the Museum of the Land of Wschowska, the evangelical cemetery of 1605 is particularly valuable. It is one of Europe's first cemetery sites outside the church grounds. The necropolis was founded by the Roman Campo Santo (Holy Field). They were surrounded by a wall with cloisters. There are places for epitaphs in the cloisters. The whole complemented the properly composed green.
In the cemetery you can see the epitaph of the deceased inhabitants of Wschowa and their gravestones. They have different forms, depending on the period in which they originated. There are, among others, sarcophagi, stalls, tombstones with sculptures depicting human figures and symbols of death and chapels. The historic cemetery is also an old cemetery.
