The Kuyavian Bishops' Palace in Wolbórz is an especially important destination in the trail of residences of magnates in Poland. The building is decorated by Rococo cartouches from 1773. The Monument of Grunwald Deed commemorating the march of armies of Władysław II Jagiełło from Wolbórz to Grundwald is situated in front of the pediment.
The palace is a two-story building constructed in 1768 on a rectangular plan and covered with a hipped roof with mansard windows. The complex consists of a park, courtyard, guardhouse, few agricultural buildings, and the main structure - the palace of Bishop Antoni Ostrowski. After 1818, the palace was handed to the State Treasury and operated as barracks. When the war ended, the buildings were used by educational institutions. Nowadays, it's occupied by the Agricultural School Complex. The palace was also a place where, in 1969, a major part of the movie "Rzeczpospolita babska" by H. Przybyła was directed.Less
