The Museum - Synagogue Complex in Włodawa is one of the best preserved monuments of Jewish culture in eastern Poland. In the Great and Small Synagogues and the kehilla house, exhibitions on the history and culture of Włodawa Jews are presented. A modern, multimedia exhibition shows life in a local shtetl. In addition, there are Judaica, as well as documents and photos showing the life of the Jewish community. The exhibition on the life of the peasants living in the surrounding villages deviates from the Jewish theme.
The Great Synagogue in Włodawa was built in the second half of the 18th century. It is a late baroque building with two outbuildings and a hip roof with a broken roof. Inside, the original layout of the rooms, as well as the carved and painted arons kodesz, have been preserved. The synagogue building and its side rooms contain exhibitions showing the lives of local Jews. There are candlesticks, dishes, costumes, books, documents, as well as furnishings for the Melamed room or Torah teacher. Recently, the museum has been enriched with a multimedia exhibition, which based on photos and using 3D technology shows the life of pre-war Włodawa.
The Museum - Synagogue Complex is not only an exhibition institution, but also a thriving cultural center. Each year, he co-organizes the Festival of Three Cultures, which takes place at the end of September in Włodawa.
