The Diocesan Museum in Włocławek is located in the building constructed thanks to the efforts of Bishop Antoni Szembek in 1732 - 1736. The interiors consist of rich collections related to the church from different times. There are, among others, Gothic sculptures such as Madonna and Pietà, medieval monstrances, liturgical goblets, valuable paintings depicting Mother of God, coffin portraits, historical documents, parchments with seals, old prints, and gorgeously illumed incunables with colored initials.
It's also worth to visit the treasury which houses monuments of the highest artistic value, testimonies of the centuries-old history of the diocese and the local cathedral. There are, among others, the golden monstrance founded by Bishop Maciej Łubieński, the reliquary gifted by Queen Jadwiga of Poland, hermas with relics, Gothic pyxes, and liturgic vessels.Less
