Bernardine Monastery in Skępem is a complex of buildings and the most important church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the interior of the converted Baroque church you can see eighteenth-century polychromes. In the central part of the altar, in the niche is made of polychromed wood, a miraculous statue of Our Lady of the Skepta, dating back to the 15th century. The figure is 96 cm high.
The other monuments in the temple are a wooden altar in classicist style, with rococo elements and figures of saints, four side altars, many smaller altars with baroque decorations, rococo painting of Our Lady of Sorrows, large Baroque Crucifix, decorated stalls, rococo-classicist choir with richly decorated Organ roll, as well as a unique pulpit. In the main entrance was preserved a forged iron grate from the 18th century. Historical benches and seven confessional.
In addition to the interior of the church, a monastery courtyard is worth mentioning, surrounded by a 37-sided cloister with gable roof. The cloister equipment is the paintings of the Way of the Cross, the life and passion of Christ from around 1790. There are also numerous gravestones from ruined catacombs. In the neighborhood of the church preserved belfry tower, today also acts as a clock tower.
The Bernardine monastery in Skępem appeared on the pages of history in 1498 and was a consequence of setting up a wooden votive chapel in this place, which was entrusted to the friars from the Circle.
