Krakow Saltworks Museum consists of two parts: a Żupny Castle ( which is an expanded castle complex), as well as a salt mine itself.
Complex of Żupny Castle consists of five buildings. Middle Castle, so called " a House among Żupa" from the turn of thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and was playing the most representative role. Northern Castle - "Żupny House" - was built around one hundred years ago and was used as a residential building. Nineteenth century Southern Castle was once a seat of apartments and offices. In the castle complex there are also pieces of kitchen and a tower. In the castle complex one can see an exhibition displaying history of the city, archaeological excavations and a big collection of salt shakers.
