Tyszkiewicz Palace

Local name: Pałac Tyszkiewiczów

The Art Nouveau palace of the Tyszkiewicz family of the Leliwa coat of arms was built at the beginning of the 20th century and is now the seat of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Rzeszów. Visitors can admire the architectural artistry of Tadeusz Stryjeński. Particular attention is drawn to the large relief of the white eagle, which holds two shields of the Leliwa coat of arms in its claws. The palace is surrounded by a landscape park from the 19th century, which also houses former farm buildings - all fours, a governor and a granary.

During World War II, the palace in Verynia was occupied by the Soviet army. After the war, the building was rebuilt to meet the needs of its agricultural school. The palace has been owned by the University of Rzeszów since 2000.

According to legend, the palace is connected by underground corridors with the granary and the former court in Kolbuszowa, thanks to which parts of the Tyszkiewicz family managed to avoid exile and death in Soviet extermination camps.
