Sędziszów Małopolski Monastery
Local name: Klasztor Zakonu Braci Mniejszych Kapucynów
The monastery was built in 1739-41 in the late Baroque style. After reconstruction in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, however, little remains of its original appearance. From the original decor there is a triptych by Jan Olexiński from 1754, a marble lavatory and portraits of the monastery founders. The building also has an adjacent garden and monastery park with a statue of St. Francis of Assisi.
In accordance with applicable religious law, every monastery of Capuchin Friars Minor has a library. The collection belonging to the assembly in Sędziszew currently has about 17,000 volumes, including nearly 4,000 Latin antique prints in the field of philosophy and theology. The oldest are from around 1520. The library had a much richer collection, but it was confiscated in the second half of the 18th century by the then Austrian authorities.
