Museum of the Tradition of Nobility
Local name: Muzeum Tradycji Szlacheckiej
The Museum of the Noble Tradition is located in the palace and park complex in Waplewo Wielki. As part of the exhibition, palace interiors, park layout, fabric upholstery, wallpapers, paintings, graphics, fireplace, mirror in a gilded frame, travel secretary, photographs of the palace and park layout, documents of the Sierakowski family are presented.
The existing palace was built in the 17th century. In the 18th century it was surrounded by a landscape park, and in the 19th century it was expanded. The last owner of these possessions was Count Stanisław Ogończyk-Sierakowski. At that time, there was a library here with about 11 thousand. volumes, and inside there were about 400 paintings, by, among others: Titian, Peter Paul Rubens and Albrecht Dürer.
In the 1930s and at the end of World War II, the collections were dispersed by the Germans and most were lost. The Museum of the Noble Tradition in Waplewo Wielki is a branch of the National Museum in Gdańsk since 2011.
