Ustka Pier

Local name: Molo w Ustce

On two breakwaters, once shielding the access to the port, there are now convenient promenades, the current "pier" in Ustka. At the entrance of the pier stands the statue of the Mermaid, designed by Michał Rosa. Apparently, laying a hand on her breast has healing power. The monument was created in 2010 thanks to the social fundraising of money and non-ferrous metals.

Initially, the port breakwaters in Ustka were made of wooden crates filled with stones. In the 19th century, they were replaced with reinforced concrete structures that have survived to this day. In the years 1938-1939 began the construction of the third breakwater, which was to have a length of 1,600 m. The plan provided for the expansion of the port of Ustka, which would connect the Third Reich with Prussia by seaway. The investment hasn't been completed, and its remains are called "the third pier".

The history of the Ustka port dates back to the Middle Ages, when a fishing village was established there. Until World War I, the port was the most important point of trade throughout Pomerania. Currently, it is primarily a tourist facility. Among the attractions of this place, it is worth noting the lighthouse available for sightseeing and the cruise ship "Dragon", stylized on the 17th-century galleon.
