Eskens' House - Toruń History Museum

Local name: Dom Eskenów - Muzeum Historii Torunia

The Museum of History of Toruń is located in the House of the Eskens, a sixteenth-century bourgeois palace belonging in the past to the mayor of Toruń, Henryk Hitfeld. The facility gathers collections documenting the rich history of the town on the Vistula river. The exhibition "Toruń and its history" depicts the history of Toruń from the period before the town was granted its town rights, through the Middle Ages, modern times, the 19th century, to the time after the Second World War. The modern exhibition form enjoys the unflagging interest of a large number of tourists every year.

The exhibition has many interesting and valuable exhibits, such as goods traded by Toruń merchants, weapons and unique documents. The whole exhibition is enriched with numerous multimedia, which in a way accessible to the young viewer, bring the old history of the city closer. An additional attraction of the museum is the educational film, titled "Book of Toruń" displayed in 3D.
