Museum of Sea Fishery

Local name: Muzeum Rybołówstwa Morskiego

The Maritime Fisheries Museum in Świnoujście is located in the former town hall. The museum presents the history of the city and the history of fishing. The exhibition is divided into three parts. They are the natural department, the marine department and the historical department.

The natural department is located on the first floor of the town hall. There are exhibitions on the fauna of the Baltic Sea, the Szczecin Lagoon, the Pomeranian Bay, warm waters, arctic cold waters and amber. On the second floor, a marine department was created, where ship models, fishing tools and navigational instruments were made available for visitors. The historical department, located on the third floor of the town hall, was dedicated to the city. They are exhibited here, among others city documents, photos, furniture, ceramics, numismatics.

The building of the town hall, where the museum was created, was erected in the years 1805-1806. It’s one of the oldest building in Świnoujście. It was created in the classicistic style. The building is crowned with a turret and decorated with a city coat of arms.
