Karsibór Island
Local name: Wyspa Karsibór
Karsibór is the third largest island in Poland. It is located in the northern part of the Szczecinski Lagoon. It is separated from the Wolin Island by the Świna River, and from the south-west it is surrounded by the waters of the Piastowski Canal. Despite the small area, there are numerous attractions here, such as the oldest church in Świnoujście, a monument to RAF pilots, a U-boat pool and wild beaches and hiking trails.
The island can be visited by moving around designated walking, cycling or canoeing routes. In addition, you can relax here while lounging on one of the beautiful, wild beaches. It is also worth seeing Piekarzyna, a small hill, with a height of 8.6 meters, located in the middle of the island, and large lime and oak trees, which are monuments of nature. Interestingly, the northern area of the island is the refuge of rare bird species. There is a bird sanctuary here - Karsiborska Kępa.In addition to attractions related to nature, there are also many architectural monuments. A fifteenth-century church after the call of the Blessed Virgin Mary awaits the visitors and two cemeteries, the older of which dates back to the nineteenth century. In addition, there are remains of a U-boat swimming pool along with the ruins of the workshop hall.Less
