Angel's Fort

Local name: Fort Anioła

In the former Prussian fort of the Świnoujście Fortress there is now a museum of military architecture. You can see, for example, the Vikings Hall, in which visitors have the opportunity to touch the exhibits (helmets, wooden axes, swords and shields). In the Navigation Room, on the other hand, there is a collection of navigation equipment from Polish, Soviet and former East Germany ships from 1960-1990. There is also an atmospheric cafe and a spacious terrace from which you can see the nearby Spa Park.

The Angel's Fort was built in the 1850s as an artillery and observation point. During World War II, it was equipped with in electricity, central heating, telephone and telegraph. After the war, it was taken over by the Soviet Navy and used as an observation point. The name of the fort refers to its characteristic shape, reminiscent of the Castle of the Holy Angel in Rome.
