Goeben Battery commanding tower

Local name: Wieża Baterii Goeben

The Goeben battery tower was originally designed to control the coastal battery intended to fight with liner ships. At present, the building belongs to the Międzyzdroje Forest Inspectorate and is used for observation and fire warning. In addition, the facility is open to visitors during the summer.

The tower was built in the 1930s. It has a characteristic, bell-shaped shape and looks like a lighthouse. A precise artillery rangefinder was placed at the top. The tower was connected with an artillery position hidden in the forest, whose location meant that the enemies were unable to notice the flash from the cannon.

The tower building consists of eight storeys. On the first storey there used to be technical rooms, on the second command center, and on the third storey social rooms. The fourth, fifth and sixth storeys were intended for the crew. On the seventh there were emergency service rooms, and on the eighth there was an optical rangefinder. Currently, at this level is an observation tower with a light frame structure.
