The Museum of Old Trade in Świdnica is devoted to the history of Silesian trade. Presents, among others cash registers, labels, scales, money, interiors of shops, pharmacies. It was divided into four exhibitions: the Department of Old Commerce, the Metrology Department, the History Department of Świdnica and the Scientific and Educational Department.
The museum was established in 1966 in the building of the Świdnica town hall. The first permanent exhibitions were opened in 1967. The historic Room of Rajców houses the History Department of Świdnica. It was dedicated to the history of the city, its monuments, architecture and traditions. Contains among others documents, model of former Świdnica.
The Old Commerce Department is primarily packaging, advertising signs, cash registers and equipment for former commercial facilities. The Metrology Department is dedicated to monuments related to trade in goods. Here you can find: scales and weights, bulk and filling measures, measuring tools. The Scientific and Educational Department is responsible for the promotion of the museum, organizing lessons for children.
